Get The Look - Bronze Eyes | Alexrocksxo

I'm not going to lie, I lust after the Naked pallets, they look amazing, especially the Naked 3 I need it. So when I heard about the Naked 2 dupe from MUA I thought I would invest a whole £4 and pick it up. The pigmentation of the pallet is great and the colours are more or less identical to the ones in the Naked 2 pallet.

Today at college we were working on our Final Major Projects and we had to work on a shoot that was based around our concepts. My concept for my FMP is stereotypes and today I was trying to emulate "housewife" and I think Samantha did a fantastic job being a pretend housewife! For this look I wanted quite a natural everyday look, nothing too snazzy and thought it would be a perfect time to test out my MUA Undress Me Too pallet. This look took me about 10 minutes and I am really pleased with how it turned out. I topped it off with a browny-red lipstick to keep the look quite neutral.

Olive Love | Alexrocksxo

*Contains over use of the word body butter*

If you'd have come up to me a year ago and said to me "Alex do you like olives?" I would have given you a very firm no, but over the past year my tastes have started to change, no longer do I crave ice cream and rhubarb and custards, I find myself wanting olives and other savoury items. The same thing goes with my scents, no longer am I obsessed with the Chocomania or Strawberry body butters from The Body Shop, but their Olive range. Holy moly I love it so much.
There are no words to describe how the range smells, it's like olives but then it isn't it's so unique and like nothing I have ever smelled before.Even if you don't like Olives I would go and smell this because it is sooo good! Both these items I got in the sale, the (massive) shower gel was £5.40 with my 10% loyalty card discount and the body butter was £2.50! It was £5 in the sale and I got 50% off of it, an absolute bargain. The body butter is so moisturising but it isn't heavy, I've raved about The Body Shop body butters so many times but I don't think I ever will, I love them!
There is also a scrub, a soap and a beautifying oil I am yet to try from the olive range but I think I will be pretty soon.
I've also been loving the Shea body butter from The Body Shop, I am definitely loving the more neutral scents at the moment, I think in the summer I may be covering myself in the Satsuma body butter again.. We'll see!

Lip Saviours | Alexrocksxo

My lips have taken a full on beating from the cold winter this year. Dry lips never really bothered me but this year it has been a real pain, but these products have helped keep my lips moisturised and looking fresh.

Lush Mint Julips Lip Scrub - I know buying a lip scrub isn't necessary because it's so easy to make them at home but this is so convenient and tastes amazing. I think everyone has tried the Lush lip scrubs and if you haven't then I highly suggest you go and purchase one. The Mint Julips is my favourite because it tastes like mint chocolate and it also leaves you with fresh minty breath! I use this in the morning before I apply lip balm to make sure there is no dead skin on my lips.

Blistex MedPlus - My all time favourite lip balm. I don't think I've ever found a lip balm that is so moisturising. I always find lip balms that work for about 10 minutes and then leave your lips dry as hell but this is one of the only ones I find keeps your lips moisturised for a long time. This also has SPF 15 so it's nice for the summer too. I apply this in the morning while I'm getting ready after I have used a lip scrub and also before I go to bed.

The Body Shop Born Lippy Sticks - Strawberry & Lychee - As much as I love the Blistex lip balm it is quite heavy and I don't really like to use it throughout the day. Currently I am loving these Born Lippy Sticks from The Body Shop. They taste amazing and are moisturising (a rare package) and these are great to chuck in my bag and apply throughout the day. (The lychee one is absolutely amazing may I just add)

So these are my weapons on fighting dry lips. Let me know what your favourite things are to fight dry lips in the comments below!

Lush Herbalism Review | Alexrocksxo

Herbalism is the first product I tried from Lush. On my way home from a trip to Cornwall in 2012 I popped into the Lush store and picked up this bright green solid cleanser. It seemed quite daunting to me buying this because I had no idea how it worked and how I would use it; but it was demonstrated to me in store and ever since it has been a staple in my cupboard. I have had flings with other cleansers but this is the one I always come back to.
I use this once a day when I have a shower and I really like it. It is a solid cleanser (picture a crumbly, lumpy playdough.) You pinch a piece of it and mix it with some water in your palm to create a paste and then apply to the face. It has ground almonds in it so they help to exfoliate your face but also help to soak up excess oils.

Lush say "Nettles, rosemary and rice bran vinegar work to cleanse the skin, removing dirt and grease, leaving bright and beautifully clean skin. Chamomile blue oil and rose absolute are used for balancing skin tone." I do agree that is has helped balance out my skin tone, it is looking a lot more even but I am still suffering with dark spots from previous breakouts. Although I keep getting the odd spot here and there, I am not covered in spots and blackheads so I would definitely repurchase this. I am on my third pot so I must like it, but I am definiately going to try some other cleansers when this runs out.
Even though I love this cleanser, I am still on the hunt for the one. I haven't found the cleanser that stops my breakouts and keeps my skin from getting super duper oily in the day. If you guys have any recomendations please let me know in the comments below!

UPDATE 27/01/14 : So I may have bigged this up a lot but this week I have realised, this is the product that has been breaking me out for a year *sighs*. I never thought it would be this but I didn't use it for just over a week and my skin completely cleared up, then used it once and I now have 8 active spots around my face. Such a shame because I thought I loved this!

Banana Porridge Recipe | Alexrocksxo

Waking up late is something that happens more or less every day and I'm always looking for a quick breakfast to fill me up for the morning. I don't always feel great slurping down a coffee and a bowl of Shreddies because it doesn't fill me up and I get hungry by mid morning. So on the quest of finding a filling and nutritious breakfast I rediscovered my love for porridge! I love the "Jordans Quick and Creamy Porridge". It takes about 3 minutes to make and is made from real oats so it is real porridge, not like other instant porridges which taste like cardboard (I'm looking at you Ready Brek). I have been eating this everyday and it's so filling and yummy I thought I would share my recipe with you!

You Will Need
- Porridge / Rolled Oats (or whatever you prefer)
- A banana
- Milk

I start by adding the oats and milk into a pan and mix them together then turn on the heat. While they are heating up I chop up a banana and add half of it into the pan. Once added keep stirring the porridge until it has thickened to your liking. Then pour into a bowl and add on the rest of your banana. (I also like to add a splash of milk to the top but its completely up to you!)

Voila! A healthy and nutritious breakfast done in the space of 5 minutes, easy and delicious!

Favourite Albums of 2013 | Alexrocksxo

2013 was a very hectic year, I started some major projects at college and also started working. I was all a bit manic but one thing I loved about 2013 was music. I found some new artists and just enjoyed some of my favourite singers new music and I thought I'd share with you the main music I have been listening to throughout 2013.

Body Music - AlunaGeorge / Halcyon Days - Ellie Goulding / Settle - Disclosure
Brand New Machine - Chase and Status / ARTPOP - Lady Gaga / Days Are Gone - Haim
I'm not an expert on music so I can't tell you all the intricate details about these albums. What I can tell you is that they are all brilliant and have been playing non stop all year.

"Body Music" by AlunaGeorge are a breath of fresh air in the music industry, bringing back old style R&B and bringing a new urban feel to it. They shot into the limelight when they were featured on Disclosures "White Noise" and ever since then I have been smitten with the pair and am excited to hear what they have to offer in years to come.
"Halcyon" Days was Ellie Goulding's second release of Halcyon, with an array of new songs I eagerly anticipated the release of this album. "Burn" was the first track released from this album and was a huge hit in the UK, topping the singles chart and also becoming an anthem played everywhere. The album is full of dance tracks, with collaborations from DJ Fresh and Madeon this made the album upbeat and exciting. On the opposite side of the spectrum it had some beautiful ballads like "How Long Will I Love You" and "Hearts Without Chains". I guarantee this album will not disappoint!

"Settle" was Disclosure's debut album. Every song they have released has been a hit and so was this album. They were made instantly famous with their track "Latch" and ever since they have been releasing hit after hit. The album is full of deep house sounds mixed with electro and some dubstep thrown in there made for a thrilling album. I was lucky enough to see them earlier this year and they were absolutely amazing. The album is full of collaberations with Eliza Doolittle, Jessie Ware, Sam Smith and many more. I highly reccomend this album (as I do for the other albums!)

Chase and Status are maybe one of my favourite acts. I have loved them for years now and their third album "Brand New Machine" did not fall short. This album is completely different to the rest of their albums. It is full of contrasts from heavy industrial hip-hop Dubstep to retro-90's club mixes. I also got to see them live and they were absolutely amazing! I love that they are able to alter their sound whilst still being polished. A long awaited album and it was definitely worth the wait.
ARTPOP is by far my favourite album of 2013. Waiting for two and a half years for this album was hard. The longer I waited the more excited I became. The release of "Applause" really got me excited and then FINALLY November came and the album was released. The album was made in collaberation with Zedd and Madeon and gave the album a completely different feel. ARTPOP is an explosion of pop and dance music. It's fresh, uplifting and just makes me happy. This has been on repeat since November and I think it will be for the whole of 2014.

The last album is "Days Are Gone" by Haim. This album is a hard one to describe. It is full of retro feels brought into the present, full of soft rock blended with R&B and pop, a winning combination for me! I cannot fault this album whatsoever. There isn't song I don't like, they all buzz with personality and the album is so easy to listen to. If you're trying to find a new album to relax to or an album for your car, you have found one here.

So there are my favourite albums of 2013. I am so excited to see what the music industry had in store for 2014! Have you listened to any of these albums? What do you think?

I just want to wish everyone a Happy New Year and I hope you have a wonderful 2014 xxx
